Gideon Enz is a Sanskrit and Classical Chinese scholar with over three decades of teaching experience in yoga, taiji, qigong, and meditation. He holds a Master's degree from UC Berkeley in the comparative analysis of traditional Indian and Chinese exercise systems, and has contributed to more than a dozen books on qigong and Chinese esoteric practices.
As a shifu (master instructor) in Chinese internal gongfu — including taiji and qigong — Gideon has studied yoga, herbology, and Chinese and Indian medicine since adolescence. A longtime student of Master Duan Zhi Liang, he serves as the official lineage holder of Wuji Qigong, a method once transmitted exclusively within the walls of the imperial palace.
This practice is fundamentally grounded in verifiable historical methods, strictly separating it from modernized, generic wellness adaptations. Gideon's teaching draws on both deep scholarly grounding and unbroken lineage transmission — a rare combination in the contemporary world.
